(29 Oct 2019) Russia on Tuesday said that Syrian Kurdish fighters had completed their withdrawal from areas along the Syrian border, in line with a recent Russia-Turkey deal.
Russian and Syrian troops had moved into the border zone following the Kurdish withdrawal, according to Russia's defence minister.
The Syrian Kurdish fighters had been given until 1500GMT to pull back to positions about 30 kilometres (18 miles) from the Turkish border.
The deadline seemed to pass peacefully, with the border between Turkey's Ceylanpinar and Syria's Ras al-Ayn appearing calm.
Ankara had threatened to resume its offensive if the Kurdish militias did not retreat.
